Hi
I thought I should share some pictures with you of a guest that has started coming around my house. (even in my house) The cat in these pictures are a jaguarundi, a medium sized wild cat that lives in central america. The one in the pictures are about 2 ft long (60cm).

Sorry for the bad picture. It is shy and only come out at night making it hard to take pictures of it without proper equipment.

That particular one does not seem to shy, either that or it has taken quite a shine to you.

Are they dangerous?

Wow. Not sure if I'd want it in my house. Great way to get rid of mice (or neighbours), lol

It is still rather shy but is getting bolder as it knows there are food in my garden. It steals chicken from the cats. The photos are taken using zoom as it only tolerates me as long as keep atleast 5 meters from it, if I come closer it runs. It is however much less shy now than it has been.

They are not very dangerous unless provoked. If cornered they can defend themself and have the ability to bite through bone but I still wouldn't say that they are dangerous since a common badger can do the same if cornered ;-)

I live a bit outside the city know so I get visit by all sorts of animals. Hopefully I be able to post a pic of a wild ocelot soon, in the mean time I can share this picture. I will spare you having to see pictures of all the spider, scorpions, lizards, birds etc and stick to the mammals.

I take it that is an opossum?? Great picture. It sounds like you have all kinds of wildlife around your house. All i get are brids, squirrel, and deer (the occasional fox)

Yes. That is an opposum. I have 3-4 different species in the garden.
The Jaguarundi is getting less shy each day and I might have good pictures for you one of these days. It is down to tolerating me within 1 meter now. As long as I am sitting at the computer or something like that.

And the only way to find out if a cat has rabies is....
to cut its head off.

looking forward to the new pics. Pretty soon that guy will be your pet. lol

Nah. I doubt a it would ever become a pet :ezpi_wink1:

(I should mention that the food in this pic was meant for the cats not for him but he is welcome to eat if he wants.)

This pic is taken at about a meter (3 ft) distance. If he now only would stop being scared of the flash.
