View Full Version : Accurate temperature reading

For years I used the strips on the side of the tank and always hated them because I was never really confident in their accuracy.
Now I use a hand held temp gun , it is fast and extremely accurate , no more guessing.

I purchased mine at the local Canadian Tire when it was on sale and I am sure you can find them at Lowe's or similar type stores in you area.

And yes there is always E-Bay

Yes they are. Mine registered almost 5 degrees higher than the temp in the tank. Room fans, air conditioners may be blowing on them. Your room heats up because the oven is on. etc.

When you go to the store, take a look at the temperature on several of the thermometers there are always some that are off a few degrees. I think the sticker ones fail more often than others.

guess i never really worry about temps that much.. during the winter i try to match the waterchange by feel.. summer time its straight cold water to fill back up
