Problem Fish: 1 female Apisto Triple Red

I had a 29 gallon tank not too long ago that was setup pretty nice. Long story short I lost track of this one fish for about a week. I thought nothing of it and just let it go and would look on a daily basis but was not too worried. At the end of the week the tank got a leak and drained to nearly 1/4 of the tank(Ouch on my floor). After investigating the scene for a while not only did I find the leak, I found the Apisto female. I will explain her problem later but for now lets just say I decided to keep her and put in a ~3-4 gallon(cycled) hospital tank. All of the other fish were donated to the local pet store(kudos to them).

The problem I saw with this female is that she is unable/does not want to swim off the bottom of the tank. her stomach sits perfectly on the bottom and she will scurry accross the floor when wanting to get somewhere. She is not gasping for air nor floating on her side. The only time I have seen a good swim is when she notices a good size flake floating at the top. She goes after it and most of the time gets it but she is not at full speed. She has been in the hospital tank for a week now.

I know all about the nitrogen cycle and my water params are great
pH - 7.2
Ammonia - 0
Nitrites - 0
Nitrates ~5 -10 which was then followed by a water change.
Temp - 74

Any Suggestions?:help:

Sorry about your leaking tank. Not a nice thing to happen.

Apistos are known to do this. Here is my pair of Double reds.

Both resting on the floor.:ssmile:

Apistos don't swim around as much as other fish.

Thanks a lot. That is almost exactly what she does. It is a bit more lazy looking but very similiar. Not so worried anymore. Do youthink if I got her a male to go along with her she would be better or are they ok alone?
