View Full Version : Stole a bag of cat food...

Well, not on purpose. It's a big bag of no-name catfood. We supplement the crazy-breeding feral barncats in the winter...in the summer too, come to think on it...

I put it on the ledge beneath the cart, and was going to tell the cashier to ring it in, and then forgot when I realized I forgot to ask her to also charge us for a water softener...she had to ring that up separately.

THEN when we went to get the water softener, we ran all over looking for it...only to finally ask and find out they had none.

So I stole a bag of cat food and they ripped us off for a bag of water softener...I think I still came out ahead though...

LOL...I'll have to straighten it all out tomorrow or next time we drive to town...

I wouldn't really call that stealing if you just honestly forgot to tell the cashier. It's their job to ring up the items in your cart, and if they don't notice one I'd say that's their oversight more than yours. A lot of people wouldn't even think twice at all about something like that, so good on ya for being an honest person:22:

Maybe we could open up a forum for our sweet little sins, like Confession, but for the AC.

"Forgive me AC for I have sinned, today I forgot to pack a lunch, so I swiped the apple off my teachers desk."....and..."Today I didn't have any spare change, but I took some sample candies from the grocery store anyway.".........stuff like that!!!

That would work but the confession has to be directed directly at me and Hobbs ;-)

All joking aside. I am sure we have all done that at one time or another. I actually succeeded in walking out with all my groceries (two bags) from a store once without paying. The story goes as follow. It was a crazy day at the store and since it was so busy the store had people to bag your bags. (They usually never have this in Sweden) so I but the groceries on the conveyer belt and the clerk ran them through the registrar and the bag boy packed them. Once they were packed my mind told me to that I was done and could leave (since you always pack your bags yourself it is natural that once that bags is packed you have paid and are done. At least that is what my mind says) So I take my bags and start walking at a moderate pace. Apparently the clerk must be caught in the same misconception because she starts helping the next customer without saying a word. When I get out and we are driving away my friend who has been watching everything asks me if I shouldn't have paid. I natural say that I did and he says I didn't and when I thought about it I realized he was right. I also checked my wallet and had all my money left.

I later called the store and told them what had happened. They didn't believe me so I thought ok. It is their loss.

In short. It can happen to anyone!

I accidently stole a watch from Walmart once. I put my items on the conveyer paid and all that...I didnt get a watch mind you. So i walk threw the detectors and it goes off and Im standing there like "WTF" and the lady checks my bags and receipt and sends me off on my way....she said it must have been my motor oil as it was the most expensive thing I had gotten. It was during the whole gas/oil price hike so I was thinking the whole way home thats probably what it was, they put some kind of plastic detector on the bottom of it or something. Got home and there was this really ugly 20some odd dollar watch in the bag with some of my random things. It must have been somebody elses or something and the clerk didnt remove its detector thinggy. I never took it back as theyd probably think I stole the thing anyway, so its in my closet for an emergency gift if I ever need one. I asked one of my friends who is a manager there about it, and she said as much as walmart is ripping its customers off every day....just keep the thing. :14:

I went to Walmart one night to buy one the Sims2 Expansion packs for my girl. I bought a few more things and went to check out. I guess the game never scanned and I paid about $20 for everything when the game alone cost $20. Didn't catch it until I came home though. Ah well, honest mistakes happen!

when my last filter died i went to get a new one from petco and i am not sure if the cashier thought i was cute or was just absent minded but he rang everything else up except the filter. i was fine with that, the filter alone would have cost me 20$.
and at my more trusted LFS there is one guy there who would always cut me deals, the store over charges and most of their clientele don't know much about the hobby, buy a bunch of expensive fish and kill them. but this guy could tell i cared and would give me free fish and driftwood. i never complained.

They didn't believe you!? WOW some people are slow!

Once again, my mom has the opposite problem... She pays for stuff and then leaves it behind in a store somewhere...

I guess they couldn't believe their staff would make a mistake like that.

All I'm going to say is that I'm sure the barnyard kitties approve and thank you very much for looking out for them! :hmm3grin2orange:

...lol...nothing like being a meal-ticket. Only a couple are openly friendly. But we feel the eyes of others staring us down when we walk in there and fill up the empty bowls.

I'm thinking we need a new AC program...free cat to every new member! :18:

Years back when I was a full time fishing guide we had 26 cats! The strong fish odor coming from my boat attracted them, no one within a mile could keep a cat, they all ended up at my house:hmm3grin2orange:

its not your fault. Almost all stores, including petsmart, has this saying

BOB- bottom of basket (theyre supposed to make sure all items were scanned)

LISA- Look InSide Always

I know dominicks goes by it and my store does it. So they're fault. Not yours :)

What I really hate is when everything in your cart "is" paid for and then you walk out the door and the security alarm goes off! :ssuprised: That has happened twice. This big, loud voice comes on the speaker (that can be heard in every inch of the store), and says "You have activated so and so's security whatever, whatever, please step back." How embarrassing. :14: :help:

most stores here will just let you go if that happens, and when i worked at a store here we had a screwed up alarm that would ring for no reason if people walked by and i usually just let them keep going, but wal-marts here are a beast. if that alarm goes off they have a guy on you right away

I have a ton of barn cats myself, all the ferral cats end up in my barn because its warm and they have plenty of food. Id say I have 20 cats, we eventually get them all neutered to cut down on the population a little. I had a what looks to be a purebred Siamese showup...hes been migrated to the house now thumbs2:

When I was 6 years old (twenty years ago) I was in a drug store with my twin brother and mother. There was a plastic batman head filled with candy that I wanted so badly. I carried it around in my hand the entire time we shopped. When we were at the checkout I was still holding it in my hand, and honestly forgot I had it there. Well, we exited the store and I realized it was still in my hand. When we got home I hid it in my toybox and never ate the candy. I felt horrible. Never even told my twin brother about it.

If my local vet didnt know the situation with these ferral barncats we probably wouldnt neuter them all either. Since he works with our animal shelter to provide neuters for them for the adoption fee he just considers the fact they live in my barn adoption...and gives them vaccinations and shots for the same adoption fee the shelter gets and donates it to them. It was getting *really* expensive as he normally charges $60 for neutering and $30 for vaccines...but now does it all for the $35 "adoption" fee at his convience. Still kind of alot...but the kitties provide such companionship for the 3 horses, that alone makes it worthwhile.

If I could do it for that...I'd do more...

But I can't get a break here anymore...and at $300 per cat...well, not an option...

Esp. since half don't live very long...one of the pitfalls of being wild...

Oh wow...thats incredibly expensive to neuter. Theyre supposed to be opening a pet neuter clinic about 2hrs from me I may have to hit up as its supposed to be really really cheap. For that price I cant blame you for not doing it...christ I wouldnt either!

We've had soda in the bottom of the basket at walmart, and didn't realize till we got home that we didn't pay for it.

The other night, at a subway, we ordered our sandwiches, and went to pay with our debit card, and the card reader wouldn't work, she tried several times with no luck. Then she asked if we had cash, which I never carry cash so I told her no. I expected them to take the food back, but instead just said take it, your all set. Gotta love free food

the people by the door give you the eye too. thats why i dont go to wal-mart much, their workers arent always the most pleasant (though some are), and you just feel like cattle waiting in line. last time i was in wal-mart, i swear the lines went from the cashiers to the back of the store, thats almost 100 yards. took 2.5 hours in line, not worth it

and yeah, subway ive walked out with double cheese many times, the guy usually forgets to ring it in and i forget to mention it. theres one ghetto subway here i love though, this one guy will give me double meat and double cheese for free.

It happens to everyone. As long as you're honest, their loss is, well, just that. Isnt it nice when cashiers give you too much change? The other day at 7-11 i handed a girl a 100, she gave me 10$ less than she should but she caught it when she counted it....the second time i made her count it LOL

embarrassed, she accidentally added 2 10's in stead of two 5's (i noticed) and counted through it too quickly. I gladly took the wad and forgot about it until later when i was happily surprised.

My little brother, Ned, was 3yrs old (Now 4) when he grabbed a toy of the shelf at a shop. We didn't notice as he mucked around the toy and we soon left the shop..

A few minutes after leaving we noticed the toy and walked back to give it back, the lady at the check-out was all snooty and was like "Thats not one of the toys we sell here" So Ned ended up keeping it... LOL

When I was around 7yrs old, I went to a candy store and bought a large $2 lollypop out of my own pocket money, I gave the man at the counter, the $5 note and he gave me back...

2x 50cts!

Gosh I was upset LOL I was to embarrised to go back and ask for the remaining of my money back, so i waddled back to the car and started crying my eyes out!

That shopkeeper took advantage of me because I was little and young - which is SOOOOOO wrong!

I hate it when that happens. I caught a $#$# [can I use a foreign form of speech to swear? Like Dutch? Probably not., guess no harm in askingthumbs2: thumbs2: ] doing that to someone, so I talk the check out girl that she has to give her x amount of $ back. For got the amount. Well she said no. So I called some mates out over from out side, and started to get tuff, well the manager came out and wondered what was up and, I explained. Then the check out girl had to explain why she had not given the right change to the poor young person. If I remember rightly she lost her job, and I got into trouble for intimidation. But that was when I was younger and dumber. Now I have learnt you can do other things. Like a polite conversation then strait to the management.

Where im from, its called being assertive. Works well.Intimidating someone isnt a crime...just choose your words wisely.

More than warranted, imo. People shouldnt do stuff like that if they arent ready to handle getting called on it sometime...

That was the problem. I was not talking nicely. And I was getting violent with management. As for intimidating I have learned that there are better ways to deal with this type of propbelm. Wished I never did it acutely.
