I've always been curious on how people come up with their usernames.... does anyone care to share if there is a story behind theirs? If anyone doesn't want to answer because you are afraid it might give away too much personal info or anything then I won't be offended or anything. I realize some, like me, are just straighforward like your name but I was curious about other folks....
Just thought this might be a fun topic......

I've wondered about user names myself. Some I can't remember at all. My name come from nothing glamous. I signed in at the rheumatoid arthritis forum as Hobbles and the members there just ended up shortening it to Hobbs.

My name comes from that fact that my Daughter is the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me. Her name is Abbey and she's 2 1/2 now. Being her Mom is what I have wanted to be my whole life.

Greetings. It is fun to learn the stories of what is behind user names. The attached image is of my 21 yr old Son Michael and me. We have been dirt biking ever since he was 12 and I started racing motocross when I was 15. We ride Colorado every year. My daughter, son and I work part time at a local motocross race track during the summer months. My son works the start gate, my daughter works the rider check-in, I am the emergency medical first responder and track official. We ride whenever we get the chance. Hence the name, 'ChainDriven'.

My name is f1oored because my mother dropped me on the floor several times as a child. In some other forum (a long time ago) I wanted to be floored (with an L) but it was taken so now I use a "1" instead. A little 1337 5p34k 4 u.

Now your name confused me from the beginning because I always referred to you as floored until one day I notice the L was a 1.

That explains the uncanny ability to get the High Scores in the Arcade. She probably damaged the "distraction" part of your brain. lol :wink2:

...no particular reason for 'Rue'...just a name I've always liked, and it's rarely used...

I can explain part of that for you.
86= The year of 1986
vw= Volkswagen
gli= Model of car (if its an 86 it is a Jetta GLI)
8v = im gonna guess 8 valve?
cocoa_pleco

8v should be 8 valve, ... or 8 volt? no, valve

well nautilus is the name of the sub in 20000 leagues under the sea, 29 is for my b-day april 29th. I kept the 29 that way people would somewhat know it was me since my last sn was gcnadam29.

What was the gcn in your last username?
Lauren B.
02-09-2007, 10:12 PM
What was the gcn in your last username?
I think that Nautilus's "gcn" in his previous user name stands for "Gotta Clean Now". I say this because with his big tank (and with that huge 180-gallon you have you eye on), you'll be spending all your time cleaning! :hmm3grin2orange:
Hey, we can make a little game out of this. All of us can post a guess as to what "gcn" stands for! thumbs2:
Um...unless Nautilus minds. :41:
Also, about the username Severus...did you choose that from the Harry Potter series?
Severus
02-09-2007, 10:18 PM
No.. i chose it because of my two new severums i just got.
I think gcn stands for "game controller now!" when he yells at his girlfriend because he wants to play
Nautilus29
02-09-2007, 10:21 PM
What was the gcn in your last username?
It stands for game cube nintendo. I was once a video game addict. I still play but im not as bad. I have some pains in my hands from when I used to play reg nes. I was pretty young then and I still have the pains lol.
I would sit there all day and play video games and even though my hands would hurt I would still play. somehow im still really skinny.

hungryhound
03-19-2007, 01:08 AM
My handle comes from a Cleveland Browns message board that I frequent. It came about because of two reasons.
1. The dawg (yes I spelled that correct) is the unofficial mascot of the Cleveland Browns.
2. My old Defensive Coach in HS used to say that he wanted the defense flying around like a bunch of Hungryhounds going in for the kill.
Which basically means that my name makes perfect sense on dawgtalkers and looks like a little funny here. So if it helps, think of me like this.
[Only Registered Users Can See Links.]
I know I could have changed it, but I am lazy and I don't want to have to remember a bunch of user names and passwords for every message board I go to. Hence you are stuck with a dawg in the aquatic community.
P.S. If I seem a little schizophrenic that is because my wife thinks it is fun to post under my user name from time to time.
