Those are great shots of a very cool and colourful cichlid. Your pics show why some call them the macaw cichlid. Fantastic detail. I am guessing a female in the first 2 and last pic and a male in the third ?

I picked up 2m/2f Nic's many years ago, and ended up with 2 spawning pairs in a 20 long. They shared the tank with a group of red-tail botia's, and a couple of larger plastic cups were used for spawning caves. Each young pair would produce over 100, non-adhesive eggs and took excellent care of them. I ended up with way too many fry...

That's what it's all about Lady H, i'm getting a lot of feedback from
the forum as well, that's what I like about fishkeepers, it dosn't matter
what walk of life you come from, everyone is willing to help and share
where ever possible.
Thanks for the kind words, and Crispy to of course.:22:

Nicaragua cichlids are great hobbs. They are very friendly to be a cichlids, breeds rather easily, allthough not as easily as many other central americans, and have the biggest eggs I ever seen in a substrate spawning cichlid.
