Hi, I am looking forward to someone who can provide technical advices on what to do with electrical leakage in aquarium water or how to earth the aquarium water.
Occasionally, I would encounter such a problem and was able to trace it to the electrical equipment (usually powerheads or flourescent lights). These are usually equipment with 2-pins plug type. I could tell that there was a leakage since the indicator on the electrical screw driver is lighted up when I place it into the water. Electrical leakage must be very low since I do not feel any electrical short in most cases except once in the past. Replacing the faulty equipment is one solution but I am unsure if this is the best approach because some electrical guys told me it was some kind of "static current leakage" and since the leakage is very low, it is OK. I am living with this problem at the moment though I believe that it can be quite dangerous.
Is there a way of earthing by dropping a wire into the water and connecting it to the earth point on a 3-pin electrical plug? Or would it solve the problem if I connect the wire between any metal part of the aquarium & the earth point on the 3-pin plug. I do have a ELCB installed in the house.
Would appreciate if any of you technical guys will give advices on this problem. I am sure there are many guys out there who will benefit on such advices/solutions. Thanks!
