I noticed yesterday that my pearl gourami has stopped feeding. He normally feeds quite aggressively, competing with the other fish in the tank. I thought maybe he was getting bullied during feedings so i fed the other fish on one side of the tank while sneaking some food near him in the spot he has been remaining in, still to no avail. His color and everything looks fine, he is just keeping to the back corner not really moving around. Anyone have any ideas?

Any changes to in the tank?

Water parameters? Water change? Temp at set-point?

Everything is normal. Temp is right around 78F, ph-7.4, and Ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates are 0..

How long has it been in the tank?

How often do you do water changes? What percentage do you change out?

What do you feed the fish?

Is his belly swollen? How does he look?

He has been in the tank 2 months. I do weekly 25% water changes. I feed a combination of different things: Omega 1 freshwater flakes, HBH African cichlid food for the mbunas, and sometimes I feed them a bit of top fin freeze dried medley, and/or dried gammarus for roughage.

He looks completely normal, he just isn't feeding.

Hmmph..

Well, if he's not being bullied or under any stress from other sources, the only other thing I could think of is some kind of disease that doesn't cause any outward signs..

You might want to QT him and see where this goes..

Fingers crossed!!

PS: what is the stocking of the tank? How big is it?

It's possible he's feeling crowded, with too many fish in his territory...
