Whisper filters?

I was just looking at a couple of aquarium supply places online and none of them had any Whisper filters, except for that newest one they have out now. Are the Whisper filters getting to be a thing of the past? I have always used them, and had good luck with them. These places have always had them before. :sconfused:

Yes...they're just not as popular - if you light them, you might want to stockpile a bit on supplies...

That's what I am wondering about, getting stuff for them. I am also considering an Aqua Clear. Never used those before.

Aqua Clear are by far the best HOB filters on the market.:22:
No cartidges, just bags of media and a sponge.They are the easiest to maintain and you can adjust the amount of flow as well.

Personally, I prefer the AquaClear...much easier to maintain, IMO...

Most people have found AquaClears to be the best HOB one the market (although I think there are a few things they could improve).

The old Whisper line has been discontinued. The new line is THE Whispers now. I would not buy them, just get an AquaClear.

I switched from a Whisper to AC~does a better job. I saw Tetra had a new HOB at LFS on Saturday..

the old school whispers are my favorite HOB next to aquaclears. i just like aquaclears better because they are made with clear plastic and you can jam whatever media you want in them

Hmmm, I didn't know they discontinued the old Whisper. :ssuprised: I normally make my own fill for them with fiber floss and I put my carbon in a piece of pantyhose. Works great cause you don't have to take all the media out when you change them. You can leave one piece of the fiber fill in it and just change one of them and then change the other next time. That was pretty handy too. The ACs really do look very similar to the Whisper. I suppose I could do the same thing with the media in the ACs?

I am looking to replace one of my Whispers. It is getting pretty old. I may check into an AC this time.
