So I need to build a lid to fit my lighting... Doesn't seem like it would be too hard or anything...
First, one of my light fixtures has a plastic splash guard in front of the bulb, however it's not held in there very solidly, and it looks like the guard only has to slip about a cm before water could potentially splash in a little too close to where the bulb plugs in, so I'm thinking of building the lid with a splash guard in it to better protect the lamp.
Will this effect the quality of light getting through to the aquarium? I intend to use this light for growing plants, so I'd like to know if this would have much impact on the quality of light.
Would I be alright if I built a splash guard into the lid and just removed the less reliable guard from the fixture?
Is there a specific type of plastic I should use to allow the light to penetrate easier?
