It's nice to see so many dedicated aquarists. It has been a decade since my last aquarium and have just gotten one started. Soooo excited! I am thinking of using ADA Aquasoil, but I am in the Northeast and will have to order it online it seems. Does anyone have an opinion and advice on how the WC work with this substrate?

Also, there are a couple of stores locally, but the major fish suppliers here are Petsmart and Petco. I am uncomfortable with those choices. They told me that most of the fish I am interested in getting would be impossible to keep. For example, every 25 panda corys they order, they get 5 that live - which seems terrible. They said the same for rummy noses. I used to have both of these species that lived very well. Does anyone have reputable fish supplier recommendations - also for cardinals?

Thanks much, and smile awhile!:fish:

Hi welcome to the site.

I would check to see if there is a local aquarium group in your area. I found one in my area early when I started out in this hobby. They were able to give me great advice of which shops to go to and which to avoid. Also a great source of local info and help. Many of these clubs have auctions during their meetings, so a great source to get quality fish.

Aquabid is a great site, sort of the ebay of aquarium related stuff.

www.drsfostersmith.com is an online store, ordered stuff there a few times.

You might want to compare the shipping costs of the soil and other heavy items.

Hi and welcome!

I had no luck at all with Petco. Every fish I bought from them died. :scry: We have a nice smaller store where I get my fish. thumbs2:

Have a smiley weekend. thumbs2:

Welcome to AC!!!:19:
Petco's policies are pretty terrible and usually result in a lot of fish death both in the stores and in the home aquarium after the fact.
