View Full Version : cichlids

I have been an avid cichlid raiser for about 10 years now. I actually have two 55 gallon tanks on the go. One tank have two orange parrots in it, both males. I would like to raise young ones but can't seem to part with either of my boys. I hale from a moderately sized town named Rocky Mountain House in Alberta, Canada. I adore my fish almost as much as I do my dogs, who I refer to as my girls. I figured this site might be a interesting way to learn more about some of the fish I have, mainly the Rainbowfish. I now have three fry off the two I have. The male appears to be a Lake Kurumoi Rainbow and the female I am not sure. I am assuming the mossy substance on my plants is caused by them laying their eggs. This is why I'm trying to find out more about their egg nests. I have assumed this messy looking stuff to be a growth of some sort so I have been trying to scrub it off my artificial plants, but I think it is their eggs so I think until I can learn more I will discontinue trying to clean it off just on the chance that I may be killing the eggs. If anyone can tell me if this really is their nests I sure would appreciate it, I really don't like the way it makes my tanks look but if it is young I won't kill them either.:help:
