My tiger barbs are getting a rather large lump on their undersides, is this obesity or natural growth or what?
Keep an eye on them. If their scales pop out and they start acting funny you may have a problem.

if their scales are out and they look like pine cones it may be dropsy, but i think its just overfeeding

UPDATE:
Some if not most now have black spots on their sides. Like V pattern.
Their gills are also getting reddish and look bloody, what's going on!?!?!?

sounds like septicemia. for them to get all this at one time i think you have bad water quality

the best thing to do for starters is a large water change, then treat the fish

I just did a water change, I cant go to LFS for a day or two, is there a specific treatment for this? :scry:
Yeah definitly test the water first and then change water accordingly.
If all else fails you may want to look into some meds.
agreed with cocoa, and go get meds. Then before you put the meds in do a another W/C

I'll try and get the meds tonight.
The green barbs are no longer greenish/blue, but a pale grayish. All my barbs are less than 2-3 inches off the bottom, they're not frenzying over food, their covered in black spots or red streak down the middle, and they're gills are all red

ammonia levels aren't that high though, Nitrite levels spiked recently though. I thought it was good for my cycle .. :scry: :scry:

I think if my fish were getting pink gills that I would be doing a water change.
