Nice. I like the frontosa a lot. Neat looking. Will you be able to keep that many or are you trying to get pairs?

I think I have 3 males to 5 females. So I may get rid of one male in the future. They are harem fish where the male does best with multiple females. 8 didn't seem like many when they were small in that big tank, but the colony has gotten a fair size now. I'm growing 4 black calvus to put it in there someday, so I think I will have to shrink the front colony a bit. I had one spawning already, but the eggs dissappeared from the females mouth after a few days.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone! Much appreciated!! :ssmile:

No agression whatsoever. Not one nipped fin, not one missing scale. I'm also going against what everyone tells you about cichlids... do not mix africans and south americans. It is a bad idea and I've tried it several times with more agressive species with fatal consequences, but this tank just works so well. I'm sure it helps that the fish have so many caves and so much cover. I try and rearrange the aquascape every couple months. My most agressive fish is my pimelodella cat, he's somewhat of a bully if bothered.

thanks for the encouraging words Brookfish.... I think my fronts are kigoma variants (the stripe on the cheek stops just above the eye). The alpha male is about 6.5-7 inches.

There's one in post #3 which isn't a kigoma.

The 6-stripe? My second in command? He does look a bit different than the rest.
They came from the same parents...

my fry tank takes the worst pictures... especially since I let algae grow on all sides. Eventually I'll figure something out to get some pics up...

Just take some shots and PM them over I would love to see your wrigglers. I heard fronts have quite large eggs and the fry take over a month to absorb the yolk. I would just like to see them. I don't mind what the pics look like. thumbs2:
