I have been looking at getting a large tank (150) gallons for a planted Amazon biotope. I want to have a good school of Angle fish, some Corydoras, ghost shrimp, some Otos and maybe some SAEs (yes I know SAE is not a amazon fish). How should I stock this tank with these fish? Yesterday I was looking on aquabid and there were some people selling lots of about 25 very small Angels. Would that be too many to start with? I could thin them out when they got too big.

If the angels are under 1.5" or so,and you could definetly rehome almost all of them but a pair [worse case]then yeah,go for it.Thats alot of ifs and if I were in your shoes I would get a half dozen small angels to start and be prepared to thin them out as they pair off and get aggressive. The other fish you mention would do just fine and I have almost that exact stocklist right down to the sae.The ghostys will become dinner for the angels pretty quick though.

The tank I want is a 3'x3'x2'tall (135 gallons) or 31"tall (175 gallons) heavily planted tank. Somewhat like the big tank that T. Amano has. It was my inspiration. His is obviously very large probably 2000 to 2500 gallons. He has lots of Angles in his tank. I am hoping to have at least 6. Would it be possible to keep all males or all females without conflict?

There are no positive answers when it comes to what will work with angels. They are aggressive and territorial and although a 135 gal tank seems large to you it isnt for them, the nasty ones will still find the meek. The best you can do is stock it sensibly and do a good job with your husbandry skills.

Great advice smaug!:22:
An angel with a bad attitude can cause a lot of damage to a less aggressive fish.Lots of tall plants.

Angelfish can eat otos so don't get any otos.
