View Full Version : Curbing aggression in a flying fox?

I have noticed my flying fox has become a lot more aggressive lately
towards my loaches (polka dots) when it was younger, it was a good
algae eater and it wasn't aggressive at all, but now it has stopped
grazing algae, and like I say, become aggressive.
I don't really want to add another bunch of flying foxes, is there
any other way to curb the aggression or should I trade it at the LFS?

Here's a few pics, it's getting on for 4" now.

I'm almost positive that it's a flying fox cocoa but I could be wrong.
but it is definitely showing aggression, not continuosly but sporadically.

My daughter has a Flying Fox, who is a little aggressive now that he's older. Your fish also looks like a SAE to me...but I'm not terribly good at IDing fish. Sae's aren't aggressive at all,(At least I don't think so???) so that wouldn't explain the problem.

100% a Epalzeorhynchos kalopterus - Flying Fox... they are very well known for their hostility as they get older... there is not a lot you can do I'm afraid... if it is intolerable then swapping him would be great.

SAE's never get aggressive... chinese algae eaters are also notorious in their older days...

Thanks Jess, I think i'll trade it in then before the aggression
gets out of control, pity though, it was a nice fish.
