Not on fish, silly. We know we don't like those. I'm talking about tattoos on people. Do you like them? Do you have one? Personally, I love tattoos. I'm currently working on a large backpiece that I plan to have completed in one more year. I'll be adding lots more flowers all over, each flower representing something meaningful to me. The black stem part represents life, the points on the stem represent all the hardships and lessons learned in life (there's a lot of those!), and the flowers will all represent people in my life that I love. The yellow rose is for my mother, the red rose is for my father, and I'll soon be getting other various flowers for my brother, my grandmother, my stepfather, and another large one for myself to represent beauty, grace, and longevity--all qualities that I wish to gain and keep for a lifetime. Tattoos are forever, so I chose a design that will mean the same thing to me forever, as well.

Now let's see yours!

Tattoos are pretty cool, on people. I plan on getting either a koi, or an african crocodile when i grow of age.

I absolutely love the koi tattoos! I've seen some pretty ace work done on the internet. My favorite one I ever saw was on the shoulder of a girl and she had the koi look girly with eyelashes and bright sparkly eyes with water waves surrounding it.

glasstapper , that is pretty awsome tattoo you have there! i plan on getting on my right bicep a tat of my old solid black cat i had many years ago who unfortunatly was hit by a car , that cat was very special to me...and i plan on putting a golden Halo around his head , he also had Emerald green eyes...so thats the way the tat will look with him sitting ....i also plan on getting one of my house dog (pit Bull )who is 14 and living the grand life that any self respecting dog should live ...people can say what ever they want about pit bulls , but the one i have was never raised with cats and the first time he saw a cat was when he was over two years old and he has never once harmed anything....i have rescued tons of kittens and brought home adult cats as well , some as young as three weeks and my dog always raised them as if he knows to be gentle around them , as he is very strong and in his prime was a 40 pound powerhouse built solid with muscles , yet gentle around baby kittens and oddly i never had a problem with the adult cats that i took in..my passion with the american pit bull terrier breed goes very deep as i understand them all too well and my respect for them is very high , they are happy go lucky clowns and as any dog really its how you raise them....even gamebred pit bulls are very much misunderstood in society , majority of them are not " fight crazy " but shy and quite docile animals , as breed specific legislation (BSL) stems from pure ignorance and spewed about by the Media , who have no ideas on what they speak about simply because they have never owned the breed , yet they have all too many opinions on them....and the media needs to realize it is just that OPINIONS...not FACTS..but i guess if its on the news it must all be true ((hahah)) anyways you can be sure and bet that i will proudly wear my tatoo's with the way i raise my dogs and animals...with dignity and respect..my dogs are my pride and joy and i cant wait untill i get that tattoo done :thumb:

My Husband and I both have tattoos. He has a wolf howling at the moon on his right bicep. I have a rose on my left ankle and a butterfly on my right. I don't regret getting my tattoos, but I do wish that they looked a little nicer.
I would never have the guts to get one as big as Glasstappers. I is really pretty though.

My mom got a "disney" looking blue bird on her shoulder. She waited till she was 50 before she got it.

I have some ink. Nothing like what you have glasstapper but it's there. Sorry about the quality. The tatoo is on my right back shoulder and I had to take a picture in a mirror. Anyhow here it is.

I got it so I will never forget that date. August 3rd 2005 was when my older brother was killed in Iraq. He was a Marine infantry sergeant in the 3-25 Lima Co. Killed by an IED. He was a great Marine and an even better brother.

My sister in law has a tatoo on the nape of her neck, if you look at it from one side it says death, from the other side it says life... if I can find a pic of it I'll post it, it's pretty cool and because she put it on the nape of her neck you can't see it if her hair is down.

Here is what i have so far, the 1st was done by a mate, the second is far from finished, it is being done by my wife who is self taught on me (I am very proud of her effort), the middle was part was the 1st time she had ever picked up a gun, the bottom part the second, the top the latest, both leg and arm are self designed cutting and pasting scrollwork, the leg has a bit more scrollwork to do till it covers whole lower side of leg.

My husband and I got tattoos for our 5th wedding anniversary last September. I got the Celtic design on my lower back that I had wanted for years and he got his clan crest (he's Scottish) on his shoulder blade.

All very nice tattoos! I have a unicorn on my right ankle but since it is almost 20 yrs old it is quite faded and I won't embarrass myself with a pic of it! One of these days I am going to get it recolored, but never seem to have the time when I have the $$, or the $$ when I have the time! Not long after I turned 18 my father took me to his tattoo artist for it and I have never regretted it. I would like 1 more tattoo, but not sure what to go with. I either want something nice with my girls' names in it, not sure where to put it, or I saw a tattoo of a cupid on another girls nape of neck that I thought was really cute. I don't really want 2 more tattoos, but both of those are something I would like to have. Maybe some day I will settle on a design that can include both and still be nice and feminine.

Some very cool tattoos!

Glasstapper: I really love the design and the concept behind your full back masterpiece.

Crackatinny: Lovely, stylized crest and tribal designs, extra cool that your wife it putting those living artworks on your skin.

Jeff: You seemed so clean cut in your pic, I was quite suprised (in a good way) by your colourful, fatastical tattoos.

Aurora: Beautiful, well placed celtic tattoo

Currently I just have a stylized scorpion on the inside of my right wrist. I'ts a home job that I did with a minora blades, a 20 gauge needle and black artists ink. It's a little rough but the colour hasn't faded (I've had it for 6 years) and it's serves as a reminder of turbulent times and lessons learnt the hard way.

For years I've wanted to get a gigeresque, organic/machine/mystical tattoo running from my wrist to my shoulder, and now after seeing all these cool pics I'm getting all fired up about it. I'm still in the process of designing it and saving for it! I think the whole tattoo to mark an anniversary thing is a good idea, it'll give both me and my husband a goal date to save for.

I did not think so many on here would be into tattoos, Hobbs blew me away LOL, they are very addictive, after paying $250 for my 1st one I bought a complete kit for $250 off ebay, the bloke who done my 1st one was so impressed with my wifes effort, he is going to help her out free of charge with one I have chosen for my other arm with a bit of greywash in it.

I always wanted to get my wifes name, but she heard this was bad luck and won't have a bar of it, so having her do my tattoos I reckon is even better, I'll always remember where they came from.

How many of you have heard the stupid question "does it hurt" lol, I descride the outline as a feeling of being cut with a hot razorblade, and the shading feels like a heavy massage, that is why I like to have all done at once, once the area is sort of numbed by the outline, the shading is relaxing, can't understand these people who get the outline done, then go back later to have it coloured/shaded.

There are so many cool celtic knotwork designs but not every tattooist can get it right. We drove to another state (1300kms one way) to get it done by a guy who has done tons of knotwork and has been tattooing for 30 years lol
My husband draws and designs celtic knotwork so my next tattoo is going to be a very small knotwork circle of his design at the nape of my neck :hmm3grin2orange:

Hey everyone. I have 4 tattoos. I love ink. I have a chineese symbol for twins with tribal ink around it with my brothers initials under it on my right shoulder. I am a twin. We went and ot them together a few years back. It was my first one. Then I have a tribal sun on my back between my shoulder blades. Then I have a tribal dragon on my left shoulder. My last one I just got last august was a large spiderman tattoo on my leg. These are the only pictures I have though.

There is a lot of talk about tattoos and I think it is important for the "kids" on the site to hear both sides of the story. Here is a small informative video on tattoos.

Floored has brought up a good point here, there are a lot of considerations before you get a tattoo.

1. It is with you for LIFE.
2. Be sure you want one and be very carefull on selecting design
3. HEALTH, a mate with a needle and some indian ink is NOT the go.
4. Don't make up one morning after a night on the town with a tatt you dont remember getting
5. HEALTH AGAIN, everything even in a studio must be imacualately clean, and make sure any needles or tubes are opened in front of you from there sealed blister packs.

I am sure people will add more issues here, but even though I am tattooed, I will point out, I was 37 before I got a tattoo, I had thought it over quite some time

There is a lot of pitfalls out there for the unwarry, and they should be brought up in this thread by those who have seen the good and bad.

Damn I love tatts now LOL, and really have always, but could not afford it untill now.

So if those with tatts who are addicted like me, have anything to add to the be carefull of list, please do so

very good point there jeff...any reputable place will do this right in front of you and if they dont , do not hesitate to move on and say sorry but i refuse , you will not hurt their feelings! i had my tounge pierced like 10 years ago...and had it for 5 years...i took it out because it started to bother me after a while...and i would always mess with it , moving it around in my mouth...it just got too much and i would push the ring out further then i should in between my teeth. . lolol it had to go .. i also had my ears pierced but dont wear them that much now a days..been years actually since i last had them on

Abbeys_Mom
02-03-2007, 02:24 AM
Every person I have known that has had their tongue pierced has removed it after a year or two. It can lead to serious problems with you mouth and teeth. I personally would never consider it, but only because I have a metal allergy and the thought of having some in my mouth is awful. It makes my teeth hurt thinking about it.

Good luck with the tounge piercing..it does hurt. . lolol but the pain is over fast , its just that your tounge will swell up for some time and may be difficult to eat for a while...((eash person is different and the swelling may last a few days or a few weeks)))

Sounds like a beautiful animal there glasstapper..very much describes the breed to a T , they are loving animals indeed ....i personally perfer Holistic care for the dogs over ANYTHING the vet might prescribe in terms of medication OR nutrition , my vet doesnt share these views at all...soo i simply ignore him and he knows it..he has learned to just listen to me after all the dissagrements we have had in the past((what else can he do? loll)))after all it is MY responsiblity to care for my dogs...i do need him for bloodwork and such , but he can not push any products on to me as i believe in Holistic care as superior to what he might offer to me...whats the matter with your dog's health? the holistic shop i go to is great because the people that run the place are down to earth individuals who really do care about animals and THEY know what they are talking about , i have tryed it with wonderful results with my cats and dogs...i can honestly say my animals are alive today because of Holistic care...i may not be able to cure their problems , but i sure can MAINTAIN them and thats all we can do..quality of life is what matters most

More so the old devil on one shoulder giving advice, angel on the other, sort of a symbolic thing, though I have listened to one more than the other at times, I got a soft side as well:ezpi_wink1:

Surprised to see this many people with tattoo's. I've got a tattoo of the Bacardi bat on my back.

I have somewhat of a fascination with bats, they just seem to fit my personality. They fly, I fly, they're night creatures, as am I (sometimes lol!) and my favourite book is Bram Stoker's Dracula.
