So the question has come up, as these things often do, as to whether or not a Sgt. Major (Botia rostrata) loach will school with a Burmese Boarder Botia (or loach). The question stems from a rash of unfortunate leapings of the Burmese critters from their home and has reduced the once thriving population to a single individual. The Burmese loaches are neigh on impossible to find locally, however the Sgt. Majors seem to be quite common despite information to the contrary and are also quite affordable.

Given that these fish do look similar to each other and we're hoping to aleviate the stress the poor Burmese fish is suffering (the poor guy wastes away infront of a pair of mirrors that were put up to make him feel like there were more of his ilk in the tank with him) from lack of interactions with at least someone related to him.

I am aware that the Sgt. Major does get larger than the Burmese, however we do have the room to get these little guys rolling all on their own.

Responses are appreciated. Thanks!:22:
