I decided to let my guppy fry step out into the world that is my 29 gallon, so now i have a 2.35 gallon hex tank available for stocking. Is there anything besides MAYBE a betta ( id hate to cramp them up) that i can put in that would be happy?

I wouldn't suggest sparkling gourami in a little over 2 gal tank, they may be slow movers but that is an awfully small tank IMO.
What are the chances that you will need it for more guppy fry??? If you don't plan on trying to save future batches why not have a shrimp tank? There are some gorgeous shrimp out there that would love a small tank like that.

I have thought about the shrimp idea, but all i can find around any of the lfs is ghost (glass) shrimp. I was thinking one small fish, but almost all small fish like to school. Hmmmmmmm.

Ive heard people suggest dwarf gouramis... but that wouldnt really work. Its either a betta, ghostshrimp, or maybe............. a platy???
Oh, and I heard you can put killies in a small tank like that

How many ghost shrimp should i get? can i feed them flake food? Are they compatible with the UGF it came with?

Aslo it has very bad lighting. It has a very small clear bulb (i am unsure of the wattage) but i was wondering if anyone knew how to get much better lighting that didnt turn everything a dull orange. Thanks.

ghost shrimp are very undemanding. they work their claws in the gravel and grab tidbits, but yes, you do feed them flakes. your ugf will work with them. you can keep about 4 shrimp in that size of tank. Dont keep them with small fish as once mine ate a danio.

And i hate that dull orange too. You can find other colors like clear, blue, and green at your lfs. that's what i did with my 10g tank

I would say 5 Ghost Shrimp. I feed my Ghost Shrimp Frozen Brimp shrimp, pellets and flakes and they eat them all.

Just a thought..
But i did go and get 4 ghost shrimps. cost me a buck and a nickel for all four. Do they have a specific temperature they need to be at? Are they easy to breed?
I am putting the runt of the last guppy fry litter in with them. if they eat him, no big deal.

I might have gone with 1 white cloud, 1 african clawed Frog, and 1 ghost shrimp.

Its too bad you can't get a different shrimp though. After seeing all the varieties at [Only Registered Users Can See Links.] I kinda want one too.

Drummachine-
I have a juvenile bumble bee goby in a 5 gal minibow along with 3 juvenile oto cats and 1 baby leopard cory. The bumblebee goby will top out about 1.5" as an adult. It does like it on the warmer side, low 80s; more alkaline, ph 7.5-8.5; med hard to hard water; and brackish water. Mine is in ph 7.6, temp 78-79, freshwater and seems to be fine. They are supposed to be territorial and fin-nippers, but mine seems ok with his tankmates, sometimes hanging out with them in a group. He did go after one of my bettas when I put her/him in with him; I took the betta out when I got a divided 10gal tank set up for my 2 bettas. There are a couple different species that are sold as bumblee bee gobies. The species I have is the brachygobius doriae and is more tolerant of freshwater and of other tankmates. They are also picky eaters. Mine ignore flakes and have been only able to get them to eat bloodworms, tubifex worms, and frozen brine shrimp.

you dont need a heater and cool temps make the shrimp calmer and less violent

I'd fill that tank with neons. It's what my plans are for my 10 gallon and only neons. Poor little guys are always having to dodge tank mates so I thought I'd put a slew of them all together to do their own thing.

Im a little shy of 2 and a half gallons. And there is not a very big foot print, so i wouldnt want to not let them have enough room to stretch out. I did go and get 4 ghost shrimp. one of them sits on top of the plant and pounces on the guppy fry i put in the tank. Ill have to get a pic. Its pretty cool.

When I used to throw in flakes the shrimp would go on his back towards the top of the tank and eat upsidedown
