For me....My dinner for two :sconfused:

4 lb pork loin stuffed (with an extra one just in case)
tatters and gravy
fresh broccoli
toss salad
fruit salad
deviled eggs
homemade dinner rolls
cherry and pumpkin pies

Fruit salad takes about 3 minutes to throw together. Here's a really easy receipt if anyone wants it.

1 lg container of cottage chez
1 lg can pineapple tidbits
1 lg can mandarin oranges
1 lg container cool whip
Fold all together then add "dry"
1 lg package of jello (orange, lime or lemon)
Mix it up and refrigerator a couple hours.

Tomorrows dinner:
4 lb pork loin stuffed
tatters and gravy
fresh broccoli
toss salad
fruit salad
deviled eggs
homemade dinner rolls
cherry and pumpkin pies

Saturdays dinner:
4 lb pork loin stuffed
tatters and gravy
fresh broccoli
toss salad
fruit salad
deviled eggs
homemade dinner rolls
cherry and pumpkin pies

Sundays dinner:
4 lb pork loin stuffed
tatters and gravy

Not really. At least they are safely in their homes and not out on these nasty highways. Dinner together is great but, really, it's just a dinner and safety is first.

My Mother went and made reservations at a small restauraunt in town.
She didn't tell us until it was too late .I guess she is getting a wee bit too old for all that cooking.
It really seemed to throw Christmas for a loop.Everything just seems so different because of it!I guess its due to all the kids getting older as well.
Have a great Christmas Everyone!

Sorry the roads were bad and you ended up with left-overs! But you're right, safety first!

Yesterday was our 'big' Christmas. I made a flock of ducks. With that I made purple cabbage (traditional German dish that doesn't seem to be appreciated by non-Germans), stuffing, and baby potatoes.

Today - since I make an effort to cook several meals over the holidays - we're having the traditional turkey (small one) and brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes and stuffing.

Tomorrow - leftovers. Then we'll do some experimental cooking (new cookbooks to check out) and then for New Years Day I'll do another 'special' meal...

Sounds good Rue. I'm not into that traditional stuff at all. I would rather be different and have prime rib now and then, ham now and then, corning hens, etc. I don't want to know what's for Christmas Dinner in June. LOL

Northernguy......you said your mom made reservation and didn't tell you until too late. Too late for what? You went, didn't you? I wouldn't mind that myself but they'd be no leftovers and ya just gotta have leftovers!

I don't mind cooking and for a lot of people but a bit of help now and then with the money end of it would be nice. My daughter in law, for 15 years, has shown up for everything with a cherry cheese cake. Doesn't matter if I have 13 pies, here comes that cheese cake. Like..........how about a salad just one time!!!!!!!

I loved cooking in FL when company could wander about outside, sit in the screened porch, etc. A cramped apartment in MI is not too handy for gatherings so I don't care that they aren't coming, honestly.

We rarely eat turkey/duck/goose outside of holidays...so the crew looks forward to it...and it's easy for me to make - and know I have enough of.

Speaking of cramped quarters. When I was little we often had Christmas dinner at my Aunt's. Probably 20 people total...we have a small family, but when we were all together it seemed like a HUGE crowd.

My Aunt's house was maybe 600 sq. feet. They'd move the furniture and set up 2-3 tables in the living room and we'd all eat in there. The kids would have to crawl under the table if they wanted out. LOL...

Great memories.

...I have a dining room...it's small though...don't know if I could even stuff 20 people in there! Most I've had is 10...

My first post here turned out to be totally fictious. I went to fix something for my lunch today and there was not one thing to eat. I gave away everything I cooked yesterday and didn't even leave me enough for a sandwich!!!!!!!

doh!!

That's a lot of food hobbs! On the bright side you'll be eating well for a few days! We'll be eating leftovers for a day or two at most I think, should be all gone before the weekend is over. No one really ate too much, they wanted to be ready and up early for those boxing day sales (day after xmas in canada, sort of like black friday after thanksgiving in the states).
