Im trying to think cheap/free way to have somewhere for a bubble next. Since I have a hex, and large internal filter, top of water is moving constantly. Anyone have any ideas on what I could put in there to make a "dead spot"? And should I just try to slow down the filter?

I would try and slow down the filter, then cut a styrofom cup in half lengthwise and tape it to the side of the tank so it makes a dome over the water..

For mine i used a small styrafoam block which i carved the a cave on its underside. This provides a "dead" area where he both likes to hide under and make bubble nests. Also i keep it in an opposite corner of his tank then the filter, and it stays right there with no tape.
