Has anyone used it? Im a die hard Hikari fan...and Kens Fish food is supposed to be very comparable to Hikari just like 1/3 the price. Im just looking for some personal experience with the product as I was interested in buying some bulk bags of it for the fish at my work...the large fish there are really mowing down on the pellets these days, and if its good I may even start using some of it for my own fish:22:

Never heard of it but here's the link if someone wants to look.

I have the feeling that possibly homemade food such as his may just omit some of the crap these manufacturers put in fish food so that it can be imported.

Back again! See this has crap in it too. Ethoxyquin and Fish meal.

I personally wouldn't use it based on my quick review of the ingredients. A lot of wheat, corn, etc.

This guy is just a bulk seller and gets his product from elsewhere. China I will guess where everything we sell comes from. :(

I doubt if there are more than 5 manufacturers of fish food world wide, they make the food to customers specs and sell excess as unbranded

When I was truckin I picked up a lot of commodities from plants that produced several brands and generics, quite often the only difference was the label

Ya know, they were doing the same with shampoo. Pour the same product into different bottles and people thought they were getting their favorite when it was all the same. I'm sure it goes for many other things.

I do have a problem "personally" from about everything that comes from overseas. They put anti-freeze in toothpaste for human consumption. Poisons in dog food. Fecal matter in frozen shrimp. Medications that kill people. Poisons in baby's canned milk, etc, etc. I just plain remain ticked off to everything that comes from China even before I know if it comes from China. LOL

My rant is over.

Does anyone know about this or have any thoughts on it one way or another?

I have heard good things about the mreed food, never used it myself. Alot of the big fish people are switching over to the Kens Fish food and swear its great. I just dont like how wheat is the first ingredient in the cichlid pellets.

That's what turned me off initially.

I just might have to give them both a try and see how the fish respond to it.
Thanks for the tip.

No problem, its always good to try new things. And I may give this kens stuff a try as maybe a once or twice a week feeding...but I definatly dont think I would use it as a staple with all those grains and stuff in it. Ive had enough trouble with pet foods containing ill amounts of grains...my cat has developed diabetes due to eating dry and can catfood that had to much carbs.

I order exclusively from Kensfish (with the exception of frozen foods which I acquire from LFS's). Zero complaints and have been a customer for years.

Specifically, I currently use KENS PREMIUM VEGETABLE FLAKE as a semi-staple for my mbuna's and tropheus and have tried PURE SPIRULINA FLAKE. They usually throw in a free sample bag of other stuff. Never tried his pellet though.

The other semi-staple is New Life Spectrum pellets which I purchase in bulk (5lbs buckets) from that site as well. I also get the API test kits from Kens if needed when I order the food.

Why have you all kept this site a secret? LOL
