I could easily switch over to the algae hobby if it became popular. I'm already most of the way there. :hmm3grin2orange:

I don't know if you are joking or not. Algae seems to be the arch nemesis in some people's tanks.
I have never heard of it as a hobby.
But good luck with it.

It's part of my hobby, I suppose, as I culture lots green algae and live Phytoplankton; the former to feed both herbivores and omnivores, the latter to feed the organisms that are part of the menu my fish eat.

How to make it a hobby:
1. Buy a cheap 10 gallon setup.
2. Stock with maybe 12 neon tetras or similar small, low bio-load fish.
3. Add as much light as you can muster.
4. Watch.

i guess its kinda a hobby, but it really takes no work. just get a clear container that holds water, put water in it, throw it by the window for a week, and voila

Dang. I should have been telling people I was growing algae on purpose and they would have thought I was very talented.
