ive just bought a big tank approx 45 gallon got a couple of fish 2 sharks (small) clown loaches and a few given with tank need suggestions about good colourfull fish to put in

Just curious, what kind of Sharks?
depending on how experienced you are you could get:
Beginner- Platies, Mollies, Guppies, Swords, Rainbows
Intermediate- Barbs, dwarf cichlids, gouramis, angel fish
Expert- one of the larger cichlids, discus (not really recommended for your setup) or tetras.

Discus are Amazon fish, soft water, low pH

weird... in the book aquariums for dummies it said for brackish fish you can go with discus... But yeah they are amazonian fish so they should be freshwater.

Since you just got the tank did you do anything to fishless cycle? If not, you are probably going to experience some issues as your tank cycles and I would suggest you don't add anymore fish until it is done. Check out the free aquarium ebook for tons of information and let us know.

I totally agree with above poster. You need to start very slowly when adding fish and get a test kit as you will began to have high ammonia in the water. It will kill your fish.

Your tank is too small for sharks. They may fit in there now but get too large and much too active to have with the others. I recently "put down" my bala sharks I had nearly a year for the same reason. I had them in a 55 gallon but they are very, very fast and need much more room.
