So, for those of you that read my posts, you've heard about my adventure with bringing a huge piece of coral back from Cuba and it broke up into many pieces ... here are some pictures of the tank with the coral and with the rocks that I got last week in Cuba to replace it ... you'll notice I'm also having a hard time keeping my plants alive :scry:

The coral will make your water very hard and alkaline (aka high pH) over time, and the majority of aquatic plants prefer the moderately soft, slightly acidic conditions. As long as you have the coral in your tank, you'll have trouble growing plants.

Hi,
IMO I think the reason you are having trouble with your plants is the rocks you have picked up. If I have read you right you have Coral rocks, which will make you water very hard. Which after a certain point will only be good for SW tanks and African Cichlids.
IMO I would remove the rocks and get some rocks from a quarry or a local river or lake.

The coral broke up ... it is no longer in the tank ... the tank now looks like the second picture ... the rocks now are just rocks ...
OHH,
so their is no Coral on the rocks. IMO I would boil the rocks repeatedly because you can still have spores in the pits of the rocks.
