Been a while since ive posted, quick update: Both the rams died at random. All tank conditions were perfect. Oh well. Tank is now fully planted, got a more powerful bulb for the plants, and also got some driftwood finally.

Now on to the topic. During the week i live a good hour away from home where i work. During that time my sister feeds and takes care of the fish. Well i get back home yesterday, and after doing some tank maintenance and adding in a new Kuhli (makes 3 in the tank now) i noticed something floating around. At first i thought it was just something random i had kicked up while removing this old dead plant.

Then i noticed it moving in straight lines, and after closer looking, it looks as though my kuhlis have breed :D I don't see a whole lot of them in the tank, my guess is either they were eaten, or sucked into the filter intake. Im going to clean the filter tonight so well see for sure.

Oh and a quick question, im still looking for a replacement for the GBR's, how bout dwarf gouramis?

From what I have read about Kuhli breeding:

"Systematic or planned breeding from what I can found has not yet been achieved, but there are many reports of spontaneous breeding in the home aquarium. It has been said that the pair will closely intertwine at the water surface and scatter the eggs over the area. Females carrying eggs are said to become obese as spawning approaches."

Hi,
Congrats if they have spawned.

IMO I would try Key Hole Cichlids, or Cockatoo Cichlids. They are quite hardy and nice. The same with the Aggrezza Cichlids.

Apistos aren't the easiest to keep...you should be fine with the dwarf you want...bolivian rams are a lot easier than GBR or Apistos in my opinion

Congrats:)

But don't get too excited just yet, I've heard people find what they think is a baby kuhlii, but it has then turned out to be a nematode or some other form of worm.

Maybe you should post a photo?

I wouldn't have thought it if I hadn't recently heard of it happening:)

Whatever they were they are all already dead. I know that one of them had gotten a bit bigger and now gotten alot smaller, as well as got a kind of kink in there body a bit. The ones i saw where a few days old if they were, and i thought they were kuhlis because they had the start of fins that resembelled them.

I don't know for sure if they are dead, but i don't see them anymore. Oh well heres to hoping they do it again if it was them :D

I went ahead and got the Dwarf Gourami today as well as a bristlenose pleco for free (friend just had his spawn). Im quite happy with the tank now :D
