My mum hated our male, Bilbert when we brougth him home, especially when we sneaked him inside and stuff - but she has grown too love him!

They are SOOO gorgeous Smaug!!! Makes me want more rats - if only the parents woudl agree! LOL

There was a program on TV just last night that said if young kids handle rats, mice, guinea pigs, hampsters .....the rodents......to make sure they always wash their hands after because the rodents carry salmonella and youngsters
have not built up a good immune system yet to ward it off.

I'm glad your wife gave in... these are so much better pets than Hamsters or Gerbils.

I used to breed rats for pet stores.

I used to keep a LARGE male rat, in my jacket pocket, ( high school) named Zippy.

Zippy was the best rat ever. He came when called. He would drink beer and generally hang out. I still miss him a little. I accidently OD him on pizza bones.
