my 75 gallon has gone green, and not in a good way. this tank is over 6 months old, had a major bloom when i first set it up. but it cleared up and has been good for a long time now its as green and murky as can be. filtration is 1 emperor 400 w/biowheels and 1 whisper 150? not sure its got 2 separate filter carts in it pretty well planted, 50%+ water changes weekly (last one was 2 days ago) lighting is 4x64 watt t8 bulbs not sure of the K rating as taking the splash cover off that light is a major pain.. so whos got ideas for clearing this up?
thanks bush

Your lights may be on for too long during the day.Read the Algae primer at the beginning of the Algae Section.Your answer may be there.

Is the green algae in the water itself or just on the glass, decor, plants, etc.?

An algae bloom...I may be wrong but I think water changes can make it worse.

Honestly for greenwater algae I just use AlgaeFix. It only works on greenwater algae and it safe for fish and plants, but not invertebrates. I know many people don't like adding chemicals, and I am one of them, but this is an exception. The other option is a blackout where you completely cover the tank and keep the lights off for days and hope that works. Or add a small dose of AlgaeFix and have a clear tank tomorrow.

I had one guy tell me about his experience with Algone. He added it and immediately all his parrot cichlids went and sat on the bottom gasping in obvious severe stress. Another customer said it just didn't work. We no longer carry it.
