Thought I'd share the strangest thing that happened about a week ago. I woke up one day and my female betta in my 20g tank was suddnely...missing. I searched everwhere on the ground thinking it jumped out, but she wasn't there. There is barely any space the betta could have jumped out anyway. I searched throughout the tank, taking out the stuff I have in their. Eventually I gave up as the fish has completely vanished. I did change the water the day before, but it is not likely the betta was sucked up in the siphon thing, not to mention, I seem to remember her being in the tank after I finished doing the water change. Still haven
t found it a week later. Hmmm...anyone have this happen before?

Yeah, after I came home after being away for a weekend, my betta was gone. He shared his tank with a mystery snail, and the power had been out. Never found him, but assume he died because his filter stopped running, and was eaten by the snail.

I remember seeing a dead fish in the morning but I was on the way out in the morning, thought I'd take it out when I came home for lunch. Was gone by then, turns out the shrimp took care of it for me.

I've had to BABY clown loaches disappear. No clue where to, and I thought they were too big (obv. not) to be eaten by my pictus. All I have are MTS in my tank, too - I doubt they did a job that fast on clown loaches.

I had a frontosa that totally disappeared a few years back. No trace whatsoever and noone was large enough to eat it. I also had a vampire tetra go missing and I found it swimming around in the cats water bowl in a different room!! Now I have the tank totally covered.

I had a molly disappear which I never found until my xp3 just stopped flowing.... have no idea how he got in buy poor little guy. Hopefully, that is not the case for you.
I also have a clown loach which always disappears for weeks at a time and I thought he was gone for sure. But, I was moving the aquarium and I found him just swimming in the tank. After the move he disappeared again. I have no clue where he hides but he is in there somewhere lol. He is a true Ghost fish im my opinion.
Yes I have had this happen before. Not often but on occasions. I do know why I never find my missing fish is because, the BN I have eats it up in a very short time. Even the skeleton is hard to find.
Sorry about your loss.
