Well it's been a little while since I setup the 55g tank. I took the remaining plants out of the 20g except the java moss, and the last of the fish of course got moved into the 55g about a week ago. I had some time free tonight so I planned to clean the 20g, take out substrate and put it into a container, and clean up the filter as well. Then pack away the 20g into a closet. So I'm pulling the java moss out and notice these dark little things about 2-3mm in length. The fry may be either black neons or neons. Or possibly something else that hitchhiked into the tank when I temporarily dumped a large bag of anacharis in it. Tried taking a picture with my cell phone but didn't come out, too blurry. Curious as to what they may possibly be.

I have a few days left before I leave on my 3 week break, so I'm not sure what I should do. Don't have any more auto feeders.

I think I have 3 options available...
-move them into my planted red cherry shrimp tank, with feeder block
-move them into the 55g and hope they survive the other fish
-leave them be in the 20g and hope for the best?

:fish::19: :19: oh keep them in the 20. Look after them. neons you say! Good for you that is a good Christmas present. Send us pics. baby neons... i would like to see them all out swimming. You can transfer them when they get bigger. So now you have to set the 20 up again. Lucky you.:hmm3grin2orange:

The feeder blocks are useless, they do nothing but mess with your pH.

I would put them in whatever tank has the most fine leaved plants or mosses. The most anacharis, or the most java moss.

They can eat the microorganisms on the plant and survive for awhile.

Alright I'll leave them be in the 20g then. The java moss already takes up about 1/4 of the tank, I'll float a few bunches of hornwort in it as well. Then leave it up to fate to see what happens. They'll be on their own for 3 weeks.

Oh and neons were just a guess at what they fry could be. Not sure if the fry resulted from my fish or hitchhikers on plants.

Somehow it just figures with my luck, I find fry a day before my flight.
