How big do cons get before they start to show breeding behavior?I have a male,3 inches, and a female not quite 2 inches, and the male just chases and picks on the female.Anybody now how big they get before they will/can spawn?

Your convicts are big enough to breed right now, i've had them
breed at that size, i'm betting it won't be long untill they get amorous.
sounds like you male is ready but your female just dosn't want to know at the moment.

Mine were breeding by that size.

Next thing you know, I have ten tanks running and no homes for fish. It was a fun learning experience.

It's funny, the day after I posted this they were doing the little mating dance.I have not seen any eggs yet,but I actually see the female. All she used to do was hide in her cave, and only came out to eat, because the male harrassed her so much. Now they are always together. Both hang out near her cave, swiming in tight circles together, and going in and out of the cave. She is also really coloring up.I'm sure there will be fry soon!

Looks hungry, doesn't he!I have some oscars that I know will like them too,and some angels who I am sure will eat some wrigglers.

Well, there are eggs in the females cave.I came home from work and checked, and there weren't any. Then right before the lights shut off,I checked again, and sure enough, the side of her cave is covered in eggs!I have been meaning to get another 10 gallon for them to grow out a bit in,guess it will have to wait until after Christmas now!
