I have 3 Albino Cory cats. 2 of them (I say 2 because that's all I ever see doing it at the same time) seem to constantly hang out by my bubble wand and go up and down the wall in it. They just dart up and down and sideways!

It's fun to watch, but are they weird? I thought they were supposed to hang out at the bottom of the tank. Cute little guys though :)

How long have you had them?
I found that loaches do that when they are adjusting to a new tank and when they are stressed.
You may also be lacking in hiding places for them. If they don't have a place to retreat to, they tend to freak out a bit.

That sounds like typical cory behavior. My albino are nutcases! They just dart back and forth all the time then they'll stay motionless for a long time. They even bump into other fish sometimes when they're "cruising". My other cories aren't as active, but still display some unusual behavior.

Also, my albinos don't spend a whole lot of time on the bottom and swim at the middle levels a lot. My regular cories will go to the top of the water and swim so fast across the water line that they create little waves. They all have tons of hiding places, but rarely go in them.

Your corys sound normal to me. Especially about the bubbles. Fish just love to play in the bubbles. I have a 12 inch wall and mine love to swim up and down the wall of bubbles, too.

I think all cories are pretty much the same. Mine like to play in the bubbles and swim around alot too! Mine like to swim to the very top, and swim straight down into the stream of bubbles and turn at the last second befor hitting the airstone. Its like they are playing chicken!

I think corys have to get some air from the surface. I noticed mind did the same thing, and im pretty sure i read somewhere that they take gulps of air from the surface. I look for the information somewhere.

Here is that information [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]

It's true they can also take air from the surface. That's what makes them potential tankmates for bettas with no aeration in their tank.

Personally, I think they just make it an excuse to dash around the tank disrupting schools of fish. LOL

Cory1: "Hey, bubba, hold my beer and watch this."
Cory2: "Whatcha gonna do, Cletis?"
Cory1: "I'm gonna go 'get air' right through that school of tiger barbs over yonder. Watch them scatter, it's hilarious."
Cory2: "Ok, hang on. Let me get my vido camera."

.....they're a bunch of thrillseekers and adrenaline junkies, if you ask me. :D

I like to pretend they have thoughts, too. I know, I'm a huge dork. *blush* :)

Loaches do the same thing. Play by the hour in those bubbles. I haven't seen my corey's do this, however. They don't really do much of anything.
