kk, this may seem like an incredibly dumb question... But... My 1# piar of Angels had their 6th spawning 2 days ago on the filter. Today, the eggs have turned into wrigglers..
Could I turn off my filter for a few days so my fry don't get sucked up?

i wouldnt do that, you would risk a ammonia spike, killing them. to save them, take a unused sponge, cut a hole, and slip it over the filter intake. the fry wont get sucked in

Umm, my filter has like slits in the sides, where it gets sucked in, its really hard too explain...
Why would i risk an ammonia spike? I would be keeping up with regular W/C's and doing them more often...

Your filter bacteria would die if there's no circulation in the filter. The bacteria have very high oxygen requirements, which they get from water constantly running through the sponge.
Dead bacteria means your filter is no longer cycled, and so you get ammonia and nitrite spikes while the tank is cycling all over again..

Can you slip a nylon bag over the intake,a sponge would be better. The fry won't get stuck to it.
Congrats and good luck!

Get one of those sponges and make a hole in it, then stick the intake into it. Makes for a good source for bacteria too.
edit: noticed northernguy said same thing already. You can use pantyhose too and hold it in place on the filter with a rubber band.
