This little guy has the most wonderful personality. He's only 3 inches long and is already coming up to my hand. I started slow with just leaving my hand close to the surface when I dropped the food in. Each day I would get a little closer to the water until I was touching the top of the water. Yesterday, I went ahead and put my half of my hand in while they were still eating, and the jack came up to check my hand out, but didn't get real close. Today, I put my hand in a little farther, and he came right up to my hand and poked at my finger with his mouth. I grabbed a leftover piece of freeze dried bloodworm and held it in my fingers and he came up and grabbed it! This video is after he had already eaten, but I wanted to see if he would come up to my hand that close again even if I didn't have food, and he did! Yay!!!

He's staring at me right now. He's so cute!

I've never had fish with so much personality before. Guppies and tetras don't seem to be that personable, in my experience.

My cichlids won't leave me alone when I put my hand in the tank. Wait until you get your mbunas! Cool video and a very pretty fish.

Let me get one thing straight...
Your Jack Dempsey is named Sal and your Salvini is named Jack. Thats very funny.

yeah, the other members here helped me name them. Even though Jack the Salvini is going to go to another home, I'll still keep Sal's name. I've seen a few adult pictures of the blue jack dempsey before and I can only hope that mine will grow to be that gorgeous. They tend to have a high mortality rate as juvies, but I'll do the best I can with him, and so far it seems that I may have lucked out with a fairly hardy one. Too bad it will take a couple of years to reach his full grown size.

-oh, and we'll be doing the salvini/mbuna trade next weekend. The guy suggested I get the 2 zebras, 3 "powder blue" socolofi, and 3 yellow labs. He said the bushynose or one of the synodontis will be fine as well as long as I have tons of caves for all of them and keep up my water maintenance. I'm getting very excited and I'm setting up their deco this weekend.

Beautiful Fish. My gouramis swim around my fingers when I put my hand in the tank, they don't seem to be afraid.
