Well the time has come that I cannot take it any more....my Angel couple are going to a new home real soon ... I started with 6 and had to rehome 4 as a coupled up pair made their life a misery and that was in 150 Gallons!!

Lately the remaining couple have been breeding monthly and the aggression is so bad I cannot take it any longer... the other fish are suffering and this last time (2 days ago) the large male angel killed a apisto caca female and my male apisto erempoygne. In the past others have been killed and enough is enough...

He is huge at 11 inches high so couldn't just be re-homed easily - I am over the moon to say though that the local zoo here (Artis) has agreed to take them into their amazon tank which is 5000 gallons and houses another 36 Angels so they are going to an extremely nice home - I couldn't wish better for them and of course I can always go and visit them.

This is also a little warning to others wanting to keep Angels.. if you have a couple pair up and one is very agressive the consequences can be horrible...even in 150 Gallons.

Sorry to hear that Jess. I have a couple of Angels in my 37 gallon, but they are only a quarter in size. It is cool that the local zoo will take them. Finding a good home is very hard to do sometimes.

I am sure the other occupants of your tank will reward you with your decision by swimming now in a more relaxed state other than cowering and hiding most of the time.

Some fish really can have attitude problems.

That's fantastic that they are going to such a good home. Congrats on thinking outside the square to come up with the answer needed.

Sounds so familiar.I went thru the same thing. I still have 3 Angels but all in separate tanks. They will be my last.

I am very sorry they are going but being in a confined space here and making the life hell of all the other fish in the tank I have no other option.

I have had the angels since they are babies.... not all angels turn out this bad and some breeding couples keep it at chasing.... the huge male I have is so large that a small nip can mean a huge chunk out of a smaller fish due to his size and he really does turn into a blood thirsty monster - just shows what a great dad he is.

I did consider keeping one but I think it is unfair to split them up...

Wait until they hit the waters of that 5000 gallon tank!!!! They will be so happy there will be nothing for you to feel badly about. You have removed them from a stickie situation and dropped them into heaven. Feel bad for only a second then be happy they have such an awesome home.

It is happening to me now. The past three weeks these angels going at it. I did bring one beautiful zebra back the the fishguy i deal with. oh what a loss of a fish. I had all these angels since babies. A couple is now in the tank. one huge koi male. I am after bring three back. Nope i do not think i will get more angels just keep two ...and see what happens. ONe is still recovering from injuries. Melafix is working. But now the tank looks somewhat empty. I miss those angels. But you are right fishalicious those fish get too aggressive one night well unbearable... they can be brutal when mating. nope not getting anymore.

Too bad to have to do that but certainly sounds like the right decision. Good move, I think, in the long run.
