I saw an ad this morning for a 120gal. tank...naturally I checked it out!:hmm3grin2orange: The tank used to be set up in a Doctors office, and was purchased from that office by the seller about 10 years ago. He kept a turtle in it. Tank supposedly does not leak, and has no scratches. I'm getting pics later tonight. My concern is this...the tank is 10 plus years old. I assume that silicone ages, and gets brittle, and damaged. The thing costs $700, but the price is negotiable. What do you think?

You can get a new 125 for a lot less than that. What all does it include?

Too, too much! Yes, you can do better than that.

Remember, those are Canadian dollars, still is a little high though. I have a 55g and a 50g that are somewhere from 12-15 years old and still hold water fine.

It's actually a decent price, here. A new 120 gal. tank with stand would cost me around $2000 here...if I remember correctly. My 55gal. cost me $299. The stand is included, but I just got the pics, and it's a homemade stand, and not very attractive. I don't think I'll bother...

Good idea. A new tank is quaranteed. Giving someone $700 for a tank you are unsure of is a bunch of money. I would want to see the tank, set up and full of water to lay down that kind of money.

I agree with the above posters, even for canada you can do better, especially since the tank is ten years old

i agree with everyone. dont ya think a tank would depreciate with age. 10yrs, even if still functional sure aint new! A 120 here only runs 300 bucks brand new.

There's no shops here, except for WalMart. I did price one, ages ago, when I was out of town. My daughter bought a 90gal showtank awhile ago, for $1500, and that was a deal, as she's friends with the store owners. Maybe I'm remembering the prices wrong. I do tend to "remember things wrong" lately:11: I think it's my age... I'll have to check...

Thats about the going rate for a basically bare 125. $700 is way high unless you're getting stand/filters/$300 worth of fish :)

OK...what do you think would be a fair price to offer for just the tank?

Offer 500,he may take $600.It kinda sounds like thats what he is trying to get!Don't forget that the tank tank will need a serious cleaning.Turtles aren't very sanitary and are hard on tanks and glass.

I did wonder about the turtle, as I've heard things about "nasties" carried by turtles. It's not going to be easy bleaching and rinsing well, is it? I think I'll forget this now...it's getting complicated.

:fish: Way too much, I know someone with a 150 gallon complete setup for $300.0.
Tank, stand hood light filters and even gravel. Check Craig's List for a better deal.
