If I add a dirty filter media(bio ring bag)from my 55 to the freshly filled 150 gallon will that jump start the cycling?Also would it cycle without fish? or do I need to put a couple fish in it?I could also add some rocks from the established 55 tank.

But yes, adding those things will help things along considerably, as long as you make sure you start adding PURE ammonia to the new tank to feed the bacteria..

You'll need a test kit and that PURE ammonia..

Ya think I will get some pure ammonia I really don't wanna put fish in that tank catching them later may be a real pain lol.I will add my ceramic rings from the 55 into the sump filter under the 150 and add ammonia in what amount I have no clue.Does this sound like a good plan?

That, and ammonia is toxic to them.. :)

Read the thread I linked, and it tells you how much ammonia to add, and a whole lot else..

if you put a used filter media in that tank and just add a few of the fish you plan on keeping you would be fine
