Sick Calico Pond Comet

What is the normal life span of "true" pond comets?

I have had a calico pond comet named Neptune for 11 years. In the last two years he has been having recurring episodes of fungus, gil disease, etc. I have tried many medications. Nothing seems to end the cycle.
I am worried he is suffering. Please help.

They can live to be 30-40 years or even older even if most never get to that age.

The age of your fish shouldn't be the source of the problem but it is possible that some infection has caused the fish to have worse overall health making it easier for new infections to infect it.
