Welcome to the A.C.!
Hi Allan welcome to the Aquatic Community , your best bet is to check in the yellow pages and then go visit several places and check them out several times , see how the layup of their stores are how the fish are kept and how the staff treats you , when you get a good feeling that the staff is genuine and they want to help you and not just brush you off and the fish in the place all look healthy , by healthy i mean that you dont see dead fishes floating around in the tanks , then you can persue obtaining your stock from them , you can really get to know the people that work there after a while and they will be more helpfull to you in the future so this is why it is important to find a good place in the beginning , you will be going to them for all your needs and they realize this and in turn will go out of their way to make sure you are happy , theres no need to rush into anything at first either , take your time , feel the stores out and be on the look out , there are signs most establishments will give you and be wary of certain stores that have a 79cent managers special tank...if you look closely most of those fish do not belong in anyones tank , they will sell them really cheap because those fish arent healthy...i guess just be observant and know how to tell if a fish is distressed and when they are healthy..good luck with your hobby and welcome! :thumb:
