I know at least one person on here has met a famous guitarist, I envy you cichlid_man.

But has anyone else met anyone famous, if so, tell us your story.

I hope cichlid_man looks here as well, and tells his story of the great Eric Clapton.

Closest I have come was 3 small time Aussie personalities a lot of you probably never heard of.

1st was Rodney Rude a comedian, my Mum shouted me to a show of his many moons ago when I turned 18, he got word of this, and chatted with me after the show.

2nd was an actor in a soapie I do not even like, called Home and away, can't even remember this blokes name, lol, but I was at a work Xmas party in about 1995, it was in the back bar of a pub here, someone seen him in the front bar and invited him to the party, he was a cool guy, and even signed a coaster for me, saying, both me and charlie agree, home and away sucks. He said just dont ever sell it to the tabloids, LOL, about 12 months later his character was aparently written out of the show in a boating accident, guess he really did not like the show.

3rd was a hypnotist named Steven Spellmaster, the motel my wife used to work at used to get free tickets to his shows, I went up on stage a couple of times but never went under, he got to the stage he would come down and have a drink with us after the show and ask us what we thought of it, he would give us free tickets to his next show and tell me he would get me under next time, never ever did get me though.

I know this is small time, but in America, surely some of you have stumbled upon the famous somewhere?

You know Crackatinny?
I have heard of Rodney Rude.
There was a show on TV here about 6 months ago. I personally don't know what satellite station it was on as my wife watches a lot of different channels.
They made mention of Rodney Rude. Supposedly a real funny dude back in the dAy!

My Clapton story is this.
My band was playing in NY on the beach.
We had played for several hours, and one of the last tunes to play was Layla.
We were about 1/2 way through the song when I saw this sort of familiar face approach the stage and reach out his hand.
First, I thought it was some strange male groupie or somehting, but then it hit me, and the other band members as well.
We just stopped. It was Eric!
He came up on the stage saying: No,no,no, please don't stop, just hand me th guiter so I can play the lead at the end.
I wouldn't want you to hurt my Layla".
I was numb.
I handed him the guitar, picked up my other guitar, the band played on, and since then, I have seen Eric Clapotn on several different ocassions as he usually gives me a heads up when he is coming to my town.

Well I guess you chose a song close to his heart, didn't he write it about a love triangle with some sheila, Paul McCartney and himself.

I thought he played at a club you used to cook in?

I would be cool to sit and throw down a couple of coldies with you and some of the other music loving blokes on here some time, I do a little singing, mainly new country, and a bit of CCR and steppin wolfs most famous born to be wild, only sung to a crowd a coupla times, but the way it winds ya up is just unreal.

I used to work at a nonprofit organization that helped develop a program for schools with "at-risk" kids who typically drop out of high school. The goal was to set up a mentoring program to help them graduate and get into college. We worked with local and state politicians to get state funding for these programs. I've met Hillary Clinton, Julie Nixon Eisenhower, Senators Olympia Snowe and George Voinovich, Robert Reich (Treasury Secretary under Clinton), and others.

I also got to meet John Glenn when I was in college when he gave the keynote address at a function for a volunteer group which I was involved.

My Husband met Chubby Checker, his band opened for Chubby and my Husband worked the lights for him. Then he gave my Husband a hard time when he asked for an autograph, finally got one though.

He's met a few other people, but couldn't remember off hand. If you want to chat with other Musicians, I recommend going to[Only Registered Users Can See Links.]
My Husband moderates the guitar forum there.

i've met john popper from blues traveler, who lives not far from me. he was talking to me about star trek. lol. i know nothing about star trek, but apparently he does. lol. i met a lot of famous people when i was in california also like henry rollins, formerly of black flag and the rollins band (actor) phil anselmo- formerly from pantera. bb king, carmine appice- one of my favorite drummers of all time.- he was with vanilla fudge and countless other bands, and a couple others. i also met the "tiger stripe guy." he has tiger stripes tattooed from head to toe and has metal whiskers screwed in to his lip. he was on oprah winfrey and a whole bunch of other talk shows. that guy was very eccentric indeed. lol

Yes Crackatinny,
he did play a couple of times at Cherries night club in NY.
I didn't want to repeat that story. :-)

That song Layla still is the best song ever written for guitar, in my opinion anyway.
The love triangle was between Eric, George Harrison and Patty Harrison, who left George and married Eric.

I would love the opportunity to sit and hoist a few. REALLY!
I love CCR, any country music, and Steppin Wolf was one of my favorite bands!

I got to hang out with the guitarist from Breaking Benjamin, Aaron Fink (sp?).

I showed up early to the show and was sitting at the bar and this guy came sat next to me and started talking to me. I thought he was pretty cute, so we chatted for a while, then he was like, "Ok, I've got to go now." then went behind the stage. I figured he was just a helper or something until I saw him come out and was actually playing with the band. He never tried bragging about his position in the band, and I thought that was really cool of him.

He gave me a backstage pass and we hung out after the show. We even kissed! *blush*

I don't know if you guys even know who I'm talking about.

Seen famous people or met them face to face? Big difference. I "saw" several big time country western singers at concerts in FL. I walked into a Waffle House one day and Willy Nelson was sitting at the counter. No one was bothering him, tho, and neither would I. Figured he deserved his privacy.

That is great that someone as high profile as Willie Nelson can still get privacy when they go out.

wow, you got to meet Steve Irwin! How awesome!

And I here Regis is funny in real life. I used to watch his morning show all the time and he and Kelly are hilarious! He's probably one of Robert Deniro's biggest fans.

We were all watching him close, tho. Staring probably but I was surprised everyone had enough sense to leave the man alone. I went outside when he was leaving to see what he drove. A big Cadillac with a WILLY license plate so guess he doesn't care about staying too hidden.

I think most of the race car drivers are down-to-earth. Many "rich and famous" people do nothing for me. At least they haven't turned into drug addicts because they have more money than they knew what to do with.

Some have their heads so far up their behinds that they make me sick. They caught a break, is all, when others didn't that may have deserved it more.
I saw Aaron Tippet at a concert and he was the rudiest person in the entire arena. Nothing but conceited and arrogant and I wouldn't walk 3 inches to see him again. Some little girl handed him a rose and he tossed it on the floor, never smiled at her or even told her thank you. Didn't even introduce his band that made HIM sound good.

People like Denzel Washington and others that are down to earth, family people, I much respect as well as many of the sports players that donate so much to others.

And then we have Paris Hilton! yikes :14:
