i read about hydra in the coldwater thread. how can you get that stuff? I researched it and i guess it only is a threat to fry, but no harm in a community tank. Anyway, I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyy want some.
Howdya get it?

Feeding baby brine shrimp seems to ensure your tank is soon overrun with hydra. Damn annoying things if you ask me.. lol.. but then I don't like anything in my tanks that I didn't put there. Some people swear they come in on plants but I have had hydra suddenly appear in a closely monitored tank that had no new fish, plants or anything else, the only new addition was BBS being fed in copious amounts to fry Some people swear the brine shrimp eggs themselves are the carrier of hydra which from my experience seemed to be the case but then I was left wondering how dehydrated brine shrimp eggs could carry hydra ??? Anyone have a theory?? lol Anyway hydra seem to go hand in hand with feeding the BBS so get to hatching em if you want hydra. When you decide you don't really want hydra in your tank a few hungry three spot gourami will soon clear em out :wink2:

or you could just ask the guy who has it to mail you a piece of it. It doesn't seem that they are very delicate and do reproduce from snippings.
