I bought a plant the other day and I don't know what it is ... it looks almost exactly like this plant in the picture, but the leaves are a purplish/maroon color ... 11895

Is it a Rotala macrandra? Looks like that but is bright red/purple

googled that and it seems to have a much larger leaf than this

I believe I have figured it out ... I think it is Anachris (Egeria densa) or Egeria najas ... which is the plant in the picture above ... which some sites say can be a dark brown/red color ... apparently it is a noxious weed in some places ... lol ... guess not in VA!

The plant you have pictured at the top is a Egeria najas - the brown they can be in low light is a really dirty murky dead looking brown... not maroon at all..plus the leaves on the Egeria najas as a lot smaller than on the Rotala I posted...

Maybe you can take a pic of the plant itself?? Would make it a lot easier :11:

Looks like Anachris to me. Make sure it gets lots of light and it will pearl with air bubbles.

looked at it with the pictures handy and it is definitely anachris ... also, as the one website I read said it would, it is turning from brown to green .....

egeria and anachris are the same thing ... anachris is the "common" name ... egeria densa is the scientific name
