I had no idea..I know about holidays in the states, it never occurred to me that Australia would have different holidays then us. Australia Day is like Canada Day here.

July 1st. Must be nice over in Australia right now. We are in the middle of a cold snap. Arctic winds -18c at night. Walking outside today the wind felt like glass shards hitting your face.

July 4th. You guys just gave it a fancy name :P

The 4th is for our independence. That's when we kicked out the British because we were tired of them using us as a penal colony (lucky for them they found Australia). Australia day sounds like "Hey, we are Australian and we are awesome Day". Being Australian must kick ass. We celebrate because we won a war a few hundred years ago. You guys celebrate just because you are cool. Enjoy your day!
