Ok so i have a friend who has a 50 gallon aquarium. Which i suspect its a 55 because around here you dont see 50's that much. He wants to get rid of and everything.. Thats not the problem. It is "SW" tank. Which i assume means there is just salt added to the water. The stock is a "nemo" so a clownfish and some crab looking thing (his words). I asked him if he had live rock and he told me he had it on the ground, about 2 inch's. So i could try to bring back the tank and keep it, which my SW knowledge is decent (been researching for a while) and try to start it. I know kind of what i am doing... (trust me i would need some help from the SW guys) or i could gut it and make it a guppy tank. Thats what my dad has been wanting for a while now ( and he is the only person who i trust with my fish tanks and keep 5 of his own)
What should i do??

Yeah i would feel bad though, because it would be my first time and i might make some starter mistakes..

I would keep it as a SW setup. Everyone makes some type of beginner mistake, but you would be a step ahead on avoiding and correcting them.

50lbs total is a good start, throw a ad up on craigslist looking for some or see if anyone has some

if absolute worse comes to worse you can make your own rock, jimpierce here made his own. from what i remember, he said that the only drawback was he had to do lots of water changes with the rock in a bucket til the PH ran normal, and it was good after that

yeah, i cant afford 50 pounds of live rock... I will put up a ad on CL and see what i get. I am not sure if i can afford 25 pounds at 5-6 bucks over here..
