I went to one of the fish stores in my area to buy a 20Gallon setup. I really do not like this store, but it is 2 minutes away and all the other 6 stores are 20 minutes away. I told the owner I want to put a Crayfish in it by itself. I did not want to put fish in it because the Crayfish will eat them.
He Told me ow I have a Crayfish and I put him in the tank with my expensive fish. "If you feed him it'll be happy." If you did not get feed for a few weeks would'nt you start looking at the fish too."
Ever time I ask him a question he as to tell the oppisite. 2 of the other stores I like going to never do that. They try to tell me their own exsperience and knowlege.

Well, if you run into those that have had fish and know much about them, their information can be very helpful. I would never ask a Walmart employee, for instance, as most of them work in another department and know beans about them. Have you searched the internet to see if they would actually get along together?
You may want to head to another store 20 minutes away. I have to go an hour and a half one way.
It does sound as they'd do best alone!

it gets so frustrating when they do that. cant they get their story straight. I made the mistake of puting a crayfish in my 33g community tak and he was going after all 10 of my cories. He never got any. But the funny thing is I thought the crayfish was dead and 3 months later he goes corie hunting. He popped from some tunnel he built.

wal- mart gets me mad too. They have the cheapest pimafix and melafix, so i called to see if they had any. Nobody answered for 45 minutes. Then, I got super mad and drove there, and it took 25 minutes for them to come grab me a fish ( this was before I knew how bad walmarts fish are kept, i never buy there anymore), and I had to get someone from sports since noone works there. Cant they hire a 12 year old kid thats smarter than their employees or somethin to sit there all day for 8 bucks a hour and take care of people.

The last time I was in Walmarts, their tanks were better than they had ever been. I am still very nervous about buying from them and haven't for a long time. Seeing the tanks all cleaned up was nice to see, tho. They are probably tired of losing all their stock!

ah, Wal mart. One time I got so tired of waiting for an employee to come after I had already asked several people I just took a bag, filled it with water, put the fish in there, wrote the upc code on the bag and proceeded to the checkout. No one seemed to care.

If you thought it was dead why did you not take it out of the tank?
The store I am talking about is an Aquarium store. The owner has been in Bussines since 1968. The store Is Tropical Fish by Showcase Aquariums.
He has only one Employee besides himself. Sometimes I have to wait 30 minutes to get helped. They always tell me to to wait my turn. One time I was asking him a question and he told me to hold on and helped another costumer.
Another time I was talking to him about over stocking a tank and he tells me it's no problem and shows me a tank with about 100 10 for a dollar Guppies in about a 15 gallon tank and tells me he just put them in and it's ok.
It was the first time I have been back in the store in about 2 months. Last straw was when after waiting 45 minutes to be helped, I am asking him a question and he tells me to hold on and helps another costumer.
I understand all fish stores over stock because they know in a week all the fish in the tank will be sold.
I have 6 other Aquarium stores in my area and only 2 I have been to. 1. Congressional Aquariums- The size of a house and has been in bussiness almost 40 years. Never overly friendly like I like, but has about 5 Employees and almost anything you want they have, so I don't wait hours and can get anything I want.
The other store is called Aquarium One- Small and does not have everything in stock some times. Mostly Common fish and lots of plants.( three times I asked for Ghost Shrimp and only once they had them) They are SO friendly and helpfull. I have been going their regularly for a month or little more so nice.
Another thing. I have lived in my area off and on for 17 years. The closes wallmart is 45 minutes away. Their tanks are very clean and no dead fish. I live 20 minutes away from a Petco and I once saw their tanks. I saw a molly tank with about 50 Mollys about half dead.

I'm well fed, but given the choice between a hamburger, porkchops, fried chicken or steak....I'll take the steak!!!
So, wouldn't a crayfish want a little variety also?? pellets or fresh sushi... hhhmmmm.
I also love sushi!!!

I couldnt find the carcass, so i figured someone ate him or something.

I had a crayfish once, he used to attack my angels and rip their fins. One time I caught him dangling from the fins of one angel with the angel desperately swimming around trying to shake him off. I had to knock him off with a net. I instantly put him in a tank by himself, unfortunately the tank had no cover and he climbed out, by the time I found him he had dehydrated and died. I had bought him after a pet store clerk had informed me that he wouldn't trouble my fishes. Now i usually test the fish store owners by asking questions i already know the answer to.

See at the store I hate, I ask the owner questions I already am 90% sure about to see if he agrees.
