Yesterday while I was cleaning the Arowana/Gar tank, I had the Steelers game on and was watching it while I gravel vacced. Meanwhile, my 18" Silver Aro (which is always looking for food) decided to swoop down and grab my hand...twice! She has never bitten me underwater before, so I was a bit surprised! Anyway...It drew some blood and I have some nice cuts on my fingers, but nothing too serious. Maybe that was her way of saying "Hey! Watch me, not the game!". Can't wait 'til she's close to 30+ inches...that should feel good...

When she gets that big, some shark net gloves might be necessary!!:jaws:

I can't say I expected this! She has never shown any signs of attacking me under water...I'm sure it was only a misunderstanding for food. If this continues to happen maybe I'll just feed her a few hours prior to tank cleaning.

Always good to make sure their stomach is full before the temptation of your fingers.:19:
She may have the taste for blood now!

Haha! She has bitten me before while feeding, so I would assume she has had the taste of blood. She definitely gets excited at feeding time and will not think twice about jumping 10-12 inches out of the water to grab the food...so you really can't mess around with getting the food in the tank. Otherwise I could be bitten or picking an Arowana up off the floor. They really are a special animal! :14:

HAHA! That's exactly how it seemed to go! She even came back a second time to make sure she couldn't eat it!

She'll have my attention now! I was really shocked! Especially when I was watching a play during the game when it happened, so it was a total surprise! I'm just happy it wasn't one of my Gar...that would really have torn me up!
