Growth/bump on Gouramis

Does anyone know what this is? I recently bought 3 Flame Gouramis. They were fine a week ago and now two of them have developed growths/nodules/bumps in the exact same spots.

The picture doesnt really show them very well, but they're rather compact and on one fish it has a whitish color.

I've seen one of the Gouramis rubbing up against decorations and have seen what can only be described as some sort of convulsion/spasm. Their appetite seems good and they're not hiding any more than they normally did.

The tank is new, just recently cycled, 5 weeks old.

I'm sad to say I euthanized the gouramis this morning. I googled around and I managed to find several inquiries about bumps at the base of the dorsal fin, but there were no definitive answers about the cause. The best I was able to find is that its Nodular Disease. This morning the bumps were turning white and there were more on each fish. But it is strange that they are in the exact same spot on both fish.

I'm new to this hobby and am not yet set up with a quarantine tank. I knew I had to remove them from the main tank, so my only option was euthanasia. <sniff>

I tried taking some more pictures but those guys were fast and none really turned out well.

I'm hoping the remaining gourami survives. So far it's looking OK.
