I've got a fairly large empty spot near the top of my tank that's fairly close to a power head that I'm looking to fill. Is there any coral besides softies that will be alright in higher flow, or are softies pretty much it? Thank you in advance for any help

A nice colony of Zoas would do well there. You want to stay away from most LPS in that area. Greenstar Polyps love having all that flow on the constantly.

I was kind thinking no on the lps, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't an exception to the rule, lol I have some green star polyps on a frag, but I was gonna try and grow them on the side glass but A guy on a local forum is breaking down a tank and has some zoas for a decent price, so I may pick some up from him if I like the colors. Thank you for the suggestion

Depends on the LPS, I wouldn't completely rule them out.

But how 'close' is "fairly close" to the power head? An inch, three inches, etc? And would the coral (what ever is placed there) be placed in the path of the exiting water flow (some can be angled), etc.

The spot is around 6 inches, in direct flow of the powerhead, which I can't really change the angel much without getting some dead spots. I ended up buying a rock with around 100-150 zoas and 20-25 pallys for $20.

That is a great deal, and a great choice for that spot as well. Can't wait to see the pictures.

Heres the pictures

This one is how it is in relation to the powerhead. I had some clove polyps up there, but they would blown around to much for my liking.

Its not the most colorful bunch of zoas, but theres something about it that just made me want to buy it

My only concern is that some of the pallys don't look so great. I'm not sure what happened to them, but they have gotten better since I got them and they are responsive to light.
