Now :2: [COLOR="Blue"] What should i be filling up an XP 4 with ceramic squares that rena makes or ones Eheim makes or well just keep using bio balls. But since I have been visiting the form I now realize those that bioballs are not useful submerged in a canister filter.

I prefer ceramic in all of my filters over bio balls. I just feel that there is much more surface area for the BB to colonize in ceramic.

Bioballs are not made for submerged use, they don't have the surface area per volume that other medias have. Read up on Seachem Matrix, their site is good.

I've heard and plan on getting some cheapo kitchen scrubbies as i hear they're pretty good for bio filtration.
Just those little plastic scrubs for dishes but you stick a bunch in your basket and they provide a ton of surface area for bacteria and are probably $2
