My Dovii has always been super aggressive towards "intruders", but he has been somewhat of timid as far as feeding went. Last night at feeding time, I decided to offer some different foods to him and found out that he is completely nuts over FD krill. He was actually carrying 2/3 of his body out of the water to take the krill from my hands. It was pretty neat, but almost scarry at the same time...being that his teeth have finally grown in within the last several weeks (and they are getting BIG)! Maybe I'll make a video of him feding and post a link here later. Anyway...I just thought I'd share...

Ok! I'll see what I can do as far as a vid goes. Our cat chewed the cable that links the camera to the computer, so I hope I can get it to work.

I don't think this will last long. They get huge and it sounds like he is getting more comfortable/confident. I couldn't be in the room with my jag without him trying to come after me.

There is another site I belong too and some of these guys are building tanks big enough to allow them to swim with their fishies.
It would be cool but I do have my limitations.Maybe with an additon on the house!:18:

I meant the handfeeding, too likely to get bit (as they get bigger it gets worse).

I stopped hand feeding my Oscars when they started to show more interest in my fingers. It starts to hurt after a while!

He hasn't let anyone come into his space since he was about 4" long...he would just goes ballistic slamming the glass. I would imagine his bite being considerably worse than most cichlids...since his teeth are so much larger. I'm not planning on hand feeding him regularly, I was just surprised that he did it. he is certainly becomming more comfortable with his surroundings.

I finally got some decent pics and a video of the fish shortly after doing his waterchange. It was kind of hard to do the vid and feed him at the same...I was a little scared of getting nailed by him!

He is polite about it!I get soaked when I try that with my Oscar.
Great video though! I would not want my fingers in there either. You get a tool to hold the food out for him if you want to continue.
Nice tank to bury valuables in!:hmm3grin2orange:

He was being very modest after the water change. He normally comes close to jumping out of the tank.

LOL I would be thinking about a stick or something other than your fingers to feed it with.
I keep thinking about this movie I saw once where the guy was hand feeding his fish while looking the other way and the fish took his hand clean off!
It was fake but pretty funny at the time.
If I remember the name ,I'll see if I can search out the scene!

Thanks! i'm sure he will eventually get me. Now as soon as I open the lid he is right there waiting. I have to distract him just to get my hand in the tank to clean. I'll get a better vid when I get the chance...he's really crazy to watch.

How big is your Aro now? Mine is around 18+ inches and just bit me the other day. Hopefully you keep your fingers out of your Aros mouth! : )
